Jack's First Birthday Party: Lil' Firecracker

Mikaelah and I were very happy to make decorations and treat bags for little Jack's first birthday. And with "Lil' Firecracker" as the theme, everything was red, white and blue.

First things first: The party needed a fun and festive sign for the front door. Nothing like a firecracker inspired "1" to let guests know they were at the right place!

Jack's mother provided pictures as inspiration of what she was looking for, so this is how we customized this handmade tissue paper wreath for the firecracker theme. 

And even the very last detail matters to us, so we made sure to seal the edges of the wreath with coordinating ribbon.

And what's a kid's birthday party without the treat bags? Tied off on the top with red and blue ribbon and handmade gift tags.

This "Lil' Firecracker" banner was made especially for the birthday boy. His mother had requested this to hang above a photo collage of pictures taken of him each month. What a cute idea!

(I soon found that it's difficult to get a good picture of the banner without it hanging at the party! Please bear with the pictures of it in my entry way!)

We also created a "Happy 1st Birthday Jack" banner, strung together with white tulle. Loved the red, white and blue papers that Mikaelah chose for this banner.

J-A-C-K spells the birthday boy! With some added stickers for a fun touch.

Here is the photo collage created to hold the monthly pictures of little Jack. I can just picture it with photos of a precious little newborn, with chubby little cheeks! 

We loved having the opportunity to create decorations for little Jack's big day. We hope he had a great party!

Fourth of July Party: Red, White and BOOM!

What's red, white and blue all over? Mikaelah's house, because she hosted a Fourth of July party this year!

She took care of the beautiful decorations and the desserts/snacks, and the rest of us brought the hotdogs, fireworks and water guns. (I knew I was asking for it when I bought those $1 water guns ... and yes, I'm one of the few who got shot at!)



I sure was impressed when I saw what she had created!

Ok, now for the details of how she put this all together. (My fave is definitely the blue and red glass bottles!)

 

 

We thought this table needed a little something extra. So this is where I came in ... and it was really my only contribution to the decorating! Mikaelah styled the entire setup herself!

I thought the red streamers made a cute little backdrop for our sweets table =)

The table was complete with a handmade ribbon topiary. So sparkly!

Ok, so now the rundown on all the goodies she provided:

Yummy cupcakes topped with the cutest (and tiniest!) little pinwheels I've ever seen!

Red, white and blue M&Ms. Is it me, or is it entirely too easy to eat that entire platter of them without even realizing it? I think I ate half of them!

Hershey kisses. (They almost look like those little poppers that kids ... well, and me, too! ... throw on the ground for the Fourth of July.)

Delicious little cookie sandwiches. Tasted like marshmallow cream filling ... but I promise I had only one of those!

So cute! A bowl off red, white and blue gummy rings.

Cracker Jacks, of course!

Confession: I ate too many of these, too, but they were so good, and so small, it's like they didn't even count. Chocolate covered sunflower seeds.

It's safe to say we had a blast (haha!) at our Fourth of July party!

{Rehearsal Dinner} Pink, Green and Orange

We were trilled to help decorate and coordinate Jewel and Nathaniel's wedding rehearsal dinner.

The focus was all on the wedding colors: pink, green and orange. But a little black and white here and there went a long way to make those main colors really pop.

Mikaelah styled the party, which was our first rehearsal dinner.

Above the fireplace we hung a tulle wreath we created in matching wedding colors, of course.

Here are a couple of the table centerpieces. We used white lanterns as the focal point, surrounded by colored beads, flowers and sitting on black and white fabric squares.

The table clothes were alternating green, pink, yellow and orange.

We created three "Forever and Always" framed pieces for the dessert display. (So happy Jewel loved these! She's even planning to keep them and hang them in their new house.)

And here's a glimpse at some of the other decorations throughout the cabin.

A beautiful rehearsal dinner for a beautiful couple. I couldn't resist getting a few (Ok, more like a TON) of pictures in front of the gorgeous sunset on Friday evening.
